MBBS Abroad Eligibility 2026

MBBS Abroad Eligibility 2026 – Quick Summary

Age: Minimum 17 years on 31st December of admission year

Academics: 10+2 with PCB — 50% aggregate (General) / 40% (SC/ST/OBC)

NEET: Must qualify — 50th percentile (General) / 40th percentile (SC/ST/OBC)

Passport: Valid Indian passport required

Gap Year: 1, 2, or 3 NEET attempts — all eligible

Free eligibility check: WhatsApp your NEET scorecard to +91 97234 95119

Criterion 1 – Age Requirement

Minimum age: 17 years as on 31st December of the year of admission. If you are appearing for NEET 2026 and turn 17 by 31st December 2026, you are eligible. There is no upper age limit for most NMC-approved universities abroad.

Criterion 2 – Academic Qualification

You must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects. The minimum aggregate in PCB (Physics + Chemistry + Biology) must be:

  • General category: 50% aggregate in PCB
  • SC/ST/OBC category: 40% aggregate in PCB

Students who have completed 10+2 from CBSE, GSEB, ICSE, or any state board are eligible. Students appearing for 10+2 exams alongside NEET 2026 are also eligible, subject to meeting the percentage criteria when results are declared.

Criterion 3 – NEET Qualification (Mandatory)

This is the most important eligibility criterion — and the most misunderstood. As per NMC India regulations (updated 2024), NEET qualification is mandatory for all Indian students who wish to study MBBS abroad and practice medicine in India. There are no exceptions.

However — and this is the critical point for students with low NEET scores — the NEET cutoff for MBBS abroad is far lower than for Indian government seats:

Category

NEET Percentile Required

Approximate Marks (2026)

General

50th percentile

~150 – 250 marks

SC/ST/OBC

40th percentile

~120 – 200 marks

OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)

40th percentile

~120 – 200 marks

Note: The exact mark for each percentile changes every year based on NEET exam difficulty. Doctor’s Direction can confirm your exact eligibility within 24 hours of receiving your scorecard — WhatsApp us at +91 97234 95119.

Criterion 4 – Valid Indian Passport

A valid Indian passport is required before the application process begins. If you do not have a passport, apply immediately — passport processing takes 2–6 weeks through normal channels and 1–2 weeks through Tatkal. Do not wait for NEET results to begin your passport application.

Criterion 5 – NMC-Approved University

Only universities recognised by India’s National Medical Commission (NMC) and listed on the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools are valid for Indian students who intend to practice in India. Always verify university recognition at nmc.org.in before applying. Doctor’s Direction only recommends NMC-approved, WHO-listed universities — this is non-negotiable.

What About NEET Droppers? Are They Eligible?

Yes — NEET droppers are fully eligible for MBBS abroad. Whether you have appeared for NEET 1, 2, or 3 times, your eligibility criteria are exactly the same as a first-time NEET qualifier. There is no upper age limit and no penalty for multiple attempts. If you have cleared the 50th percentile (General) or 40th percentile (SC/ST/OBC) in NEET 2026, you qualify.
